...Some wicked cold coming.
But first we have some snow opportunities to discuss.
1) Tuesday into Tuesday Night - We get squeezed between two storm systems - a clipper dragging an arctic front southeast and a coastal low developing east of the Carolinas. IF these two were to phase, we would be talking about a major snow storm for New England. However that ship has sailed. At this point, the only locations possibly affected by the coastal low will be SE MA on the Cape. However, we will still get some snow as the arctic front crosses us. And with wintertime instability in place, snow squalls are likely Tuesday evening and night. This may result in accumulations of 1 to 4 inches across New England.
The arctic surge begins on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Temperatures will fall into the low teens by Wednesday morning, and will likely only rise a degree or two Wednesday afternoon.
2) Thursday - Another clipper system will move east, with low pressure tracking just south of the region. At this point, this storm looks analogous to the one we just received, and the potential exists for another 4 to 8 inch snowfall.
High temperatures Thursday may not make it out of the single digits. Once the clipper moves through by Thursday night, temperatures will plummet into the teens below zero by Friday morning.
