A clipper system will approach the region Saturday spreading scattered snow showers across western New England. Energy from this storm will transfer to the coast, with a short wave amplifying and tilting negative as it passes to our east. Normally this would create a plowable snowfall for much of the region, however a piece of energy runs out ahead of the main shortwave, destroying the baroclinic zone meaning the main storm has doesnt amplify as quickly.

Nevertheless, the forecast models have been trending west and it appears the coastal storm could provide a glancing blow to the south coast and eastern New England with an area of 1 to 3 inches, and locally up to 4 if Norlun trough enhancement can occur.

Here in Keene, the main show will be more from the clipper itself as scattered snow showers pass across us through Sunday morning. If the coastal low strengthens quickly enough, a period of light steady snow would be possible late Sunday morning. No more than an inch is expected at this time.
